A brief journey to the east of Portland brings one to Mt. Hood National Forest. If you add a bit of a southward heading to your journey, you can find yourself at Bagby Hot Springs. I wasn't expecting for there to be snow on the ground still, as the first day of spring had already come and gone, but it made for a beautiful hike to the springs. Here are a couple of photos from the trail.

Landscape - Forest Park
I was lucky enough to have my friend Jake visit me in Portland a few days ago. Between quaffing local brews in the various pubs and coffee shops that dot the city, we took a short hike around the Audubon Society's bird sanctuary and the southern tip of Forest Park. I was taken by the bright green mosses, especially their vibrancy on a cloudy, drizzly day. A few shots of the paths we walked are below.

Concert - O Horizon, The Horde and the Harem, Olin and the Moon
A couple of weeks ago, I went to see The Horde and the Harem on their way down to SXSW. They were preceded by O Horizon, a special guest for the Portland show, and followed by Olin and the Moon, with whom they were touring.
The concert was at The Woods, which is a converted mortuary. It's a small, intimate space, with a ramshackle assortment of chairs and couches. All three bands brought an incredible amount of energy to the show. A couple of photos from each band are below.
