I have talked to a few people about doing product photography, but I didn't have anything to show. Just before I moved away from Portland, I took a few shots with my cousin acting as assistant. If I have some more free time, I'll expand my portfolio, but here's something for now.
These are all "found objects", otherwise known as things I own or picked up around the house.

Concert - The Horde and the Harem
I haven't been getting out as much in the past few months to take photos, but when my friends The Horde and the Harem come through town, I am more than happy to listen to some good music, dance, and snap a few shots. This past Sunday, the band finished up a west coast tour at Lola's Room as part of the Portland Bridge Festival.

Landscape - Morel Hunting
Last weekend, I went up the McKenzie River with a few friends to find morel mushrooms. We were reasonably successful, bringing home enough for us to cook and enjoy. Though I was more focused on the ground, I did take a few photos while wandering through the wilderness.

Product - New Belgium's Mothership Wit
Charlie Kloppenburg called me a couple of weeks ago to hang out in his studio and work on a concept shot of New Belgium's Mothership Wit. Though I have been really busy with web development projects as of late, it seemed like the perfect way to spend an afternoon: a friend, photography, and beer. Below are the results of our effort.
You can see more of Charlie's work here: http://www.kloppenburgphoto.com/.
New Belgium's site is here: http://www.newbelgium.com/.
*On a side note: though I have been drifting away from wheat beers the last couple of years, I found this one surprisingly good. It's organic to boot.

iPhone - NE Portland and a Sunset in California
I have been caught without a camera a couple of times since I last caught up on my iPhone shots: once while walking around NE Alberta Street in Portland, where random wanderings brought me to Vernon Tank Playground; and again while driving back up from LA on I-5.

Event - Team Casino at The Heathman Lodge
Friday night was spent partying with Team Casino at The Heathman Lodge in Vancouver, Washington. The atmosphere was great, with both sides of the gaming tables having a fantastic time. This was the first Team Casino event that I had been to where they had betting on horse racing. Though there were a few good shots that came out of the night, I'm only posting one. If you want to see more, you will just have to check the Team Casino Facebook page in the coming days: https://www.facebook.com/TeamCasino.

Press Conference - Virgin Oceanic
I was lucky enough over the last couple of weeks to work on the Virgin Oceanic website. The site went live on Tuesday, coinciding with a press conference in Newport Beach, California announcing the plans for the five dives. The web team, of Lau Design Lab, was invited to join in on the fun, and to enable public access to the site at precisely 10:30 a.m. Karen Lau let me borrow her camera to capture some of the happenings, after I had left mine in the car. It was my first press conference, but I think the images turned out okay.

Landscape - Bagby Hot Springs
A brief journey to the east of Portland brings one to Mt. Hood National Forest. If you add a bit of a southward heading to your journey, you can find yourself at Bagby Hot Springs. I wasn't expecting for there to be snow on the ground still, as the first day of spring had already come and gone, but it made for a beautiful hike to the springs. Here are a couple of photos from the trail.

Landscape - Forest Park
I was lucky enough to have my friend Jake visit me in Portland a few days ago. Between quaffing local brews in the various pubs and coffee shops that dot the city, we took a short hike around the Audubon Society's bird sanctuary and the southern tip of Forest Park. I was taken by the bright green mosses, especially their vibrancy on a cloudy, drizzly day. A few shots of the paths we walked are below.

Concert - O Horizon, The Horde and the Harem, Olin and the Moon
A couple of weeks ago, I went to see The Horde and the Harem on their way down to SXSW. They were preceded by O Horizon, a special guest for the Portland show, and followed by Olin and the Moon, with whom they were touring.
The concert was at The Woods, which is a converted mortuary. It's a small, intimate space, with a ramshackle assortment of chairs and couches. All three bands brought an incredible amount of energy to the show. A couple of photos from each band are below.

Portfolio Building - Me
I was messing around with some seamless white last night before going out. Self-portraits are funny things.

iPhone - Getting Caught Up pt. 2
The series is two part. Here are the rest of the photos from my phone. Since I still have a terrible memory for my camera, and I like walking unencumbered, I am sure that there will be more phone photos in the future.
This first shot is of a bristlecone pine in Inyo National Forest. The entrance to the trail is off of the most fun road I have driven in my life, Highway 168 going out of Big Pine, California.
The building in the following photo is in Chicago somewhere. I took a picture of it after meeting up with a friend for a beer a few blocks south of wherever this is.
These concert shots helped me get the gig with SPIN, which you can see by clicking the links below.

SPIN 2
Both of these photos are from the Lifestyles Pavilion in Columbus, Ohio. The first is of their indoor stage when Vampire Weekend was playing. The second is of their outdoor venue with The Flaming Lips rocking it out that night.
